Startups and Risks
A brief review on risks, because the field of venture capital is all about managing risks.
What does the portrait of the ideal founder look like?
- Has worked for years in the top companies in the industry in which they are launching a startup = understanding the market.
- Ages of working on one specific problem = understanding the pain points and having the competencies.
- Thoughtful and proactive = enough ambitions to build a unicorn.
Sometimes the first two points are enough for a VC at an early stage to put the first money in. After all, if founders made a pre-MVP and came to VC, then they probably have the p. 3 as well.
The age breakdown doesn’t help much, nor does studying at a particular college.
But if you weren’t born in the US, then statistically, Indian-born have a better chance.
