Startups and Risks

A brief review on risks, because the field of venture capital is all about managing risks.

What does the portrait of the ideal founder look like?

  1. Has worked for years in the top companies in the industry in which they are launching a startup = understanding the market.
  2. Ages of working on one specific problem = understanding the pain points and having the competencies.
  3. Thoughtful and proactive = enough ambitions to build a unicorn.

Sometimes the first two points are enough for a VC at an early stage to put the first money in. After all, if founders made a pre-MVP and came to VC, then they probably have the p. 3 as well.

The age breakdown doesn’t help much, nor does studying at a particular college.

But if you weren’t born in the US, then statistically, Indian-born have a better chance.
