Solo founder isn’t sexy for investors?

Every startup with more than one founder faces the problem of founders’ dick measuring contest. This process can be harmless.

For example, cross-fire, quarrels on meetings due to different points of view on the product, different values (someone is progressive and the other one is rightwing traditionalist). These are all minor tensions, because they are more likely to contribute to a common cause and progress. This happens when the product does not exist (0–3 months) or it has already found a product/market fit (12–18 months).

The biggest drama begins when the first successes are in place, but there’s still plenty of shit to be shoveled ahead. This happens around the 6–9 month mark. Some founders start to think that their contribution is more valuable.

I’m gonna be honest. This is my story. We have 4 founders, two technical and two non-technical. The difficulty of our stage is that we’ve been struggling for a long time with a product that we still can’t release. We’ve had technical issues, and now we’ve been fighting with Apple to get it into the store.

And then it hits, of course. My thoughts go something like this:

- I’ve interviewed over 1,000 people and learned that the product might be in demand and in what situations

- I’ve put almost 1,000 people on the waiting list

⁃ I energized the whole team when there was no more energy left to run on, raising the flag and inspiring them to keep going

⁃ And what did you do? A product that didn’t work?

Be honest, every founder can make the same lists of their achievements and unique qualities that helped us get closer to success.

Another thing is that there is no result.

We have not yet learned how to predict the time that we can put into a project. This is our main problem as a team. We still do not work full time. We combine it with other activities. This is the second problem (or the same).

The vesting and vision of the founder-inspirer will save our project. I do think so.
